May 2021 Security Update Now Arriving on OnePlus 9 (Pro)

OnePlus has released a new firmware update (OxygenOS for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro bringing all of the patches included in Google’s May 2021 Android Security Maintenance Release, as well as some device-specific fixes and improvements.

Here’s the full changelog:


  • Improved charging performance
  • Fixed the small probability lagging issue of keyboard
  • Fixed known issues and improved system stability
  • Updated Android security patch to 2021.05


  • Improved the HDR effect in some shooting scenes
  • Improved the white balance performance of the rear camera


  • Improved the stability of network communication
  • Improved the performance of Wi-Fi connection

The update started rolling out in India on May 7 and is expected to reach Europe and North America by the end of the week, if previous update schedules are anything to go by, so be sure to keep an eye out for it.

If you own a OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro and haven’t received a notification prompting you to install the update, you can always check to see if it’s ready for your device by heading into Settings, selecting System, then tapping System Updates.
