The OnePlus 10 is expected to launch in April 2022 as the successor to the unannounced OnePlus 9T, which should launch in October 2021. Here’s everything we (think we) know about the handset. Just keep in mind that the OnePlus 9 has only just hit the shelves, so if you’re scratching your head wondering why the list of things we’ll see is so short, that’s why. Be sure to keep checking back though as we’ll be updating this article as soon as new details surface.
OnePlus 10 Design
Unfortunately, the OnePlus 10 design is a complete mystery right now. We haven’t seen a single (credible) leak of the handset or heard any (credible) rumors describing what it will look like. But to whet our appetite, well-known concept designer Benjamin Geskin has created a render of what the device could look like. Just keep in mind that the following illustration doesn’t contain a hint of truth — it’s nothing more than art… but what a work of art it is.
OnePlus 10 Specs
What can we expect from the OnePlus 10 specs? The only thing we know for certain is that it will offer 5G connectivity, a feature that debuted on the OnePlus 7 Pro back in 2019. It’s also safe to assume that, like all OnePlus smartphones since the OnePlus 5T in 2017, it will have an all-screen design. A lack of either of these features wouldn’t align with OnePlus’ mission to create smartphones that rival the best on the market for a fraction of the price.
There are a few other things we can say with absolute certainty OnePlus will improve on the OnePlus 10. The camera, for starters, should see some upgrades, with some tipsters claiming the company’s first penta-camera setup could make its inaugural appearance on the handset, but there’s no evidence to support this. It would make sense, though: The OnePlus 9 Pro features a quad-camera, developed with Swedish camera titan Hasselblad.
You can also bet your bottom dollar the OnePlus 10 will have an improved on board. The OnePlus 9 is powered by Qualcomm’s current flagship Snapdragon 885 CPU. Seeing as the Snapdragon 895 is expected to launch this year, our money’s on that making an appearance on the OnePlus 10 when it’s announced in 2022. We may even see a bump RAM, up from 12GB on the top-spec OnePlus 9, to 16GB to rival the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S22.
It’s looking unlikely that OnePlus will increase the physical size of the battery on the OnePlus 10 and OnePlus 10 Pro, using the same 4500mAh cell found on the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, which is believed to be under the hood on the rumored OnePlus 9T and OnePlus 9T Pro as well. Instead, we believe OnePlus will make some improvements to its already-impressive power management system, baked into its Android-based OxygenOS operating system.
Speaking of OxygenOS, considering Android 12 is believed to be launching at the end of 2021, it’s likely that the OnePlus 10 could be the first smartphone to ship running the new flavor of Android, or rather the next flavor of OxygenOS, which would be aptly named OxygenOS 12 to mirror that software version of its base software. This is tipped to bring a wealth of new features and optimizations, including a redesigned notification menu.
OnePlus 10 Release Date
OnePlus releases one numbered handset a year, the latest of which is the OnePlus 9. More often than not, this flagship device is succeeded by a T-series handset around six months later. Do the math and the next handset on OnePlus’ roadmap, the OnePlus 9T, will hit the shelves some time in October. The OnePlus 10 will launch approximately six months after that, presumably in either late-March or early-April 2021. An exact date is still unknown.
OnePlus 10 Price & Availability
Pricing for the OnePlus 10 is expected to start at $729 / £629 for the base model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, the same as the OnePlus 9, while the OnePlus 10 Pro is believed to start at $969 / £829, the same as the OnePlus 9 Pro. But let’s wait to see how much the OnePlus 9T costs before we put some weight behind that prediction. If OnePlus comes out with a revolutionary new feature, there’s a chance the OnePlus 10 Pro could cost more.
