OnePlus has announced that it’s throwing in a free Stadia Premiere Edition with a new OnePlus smartphone, but in doing so it inadvertently confirmed that its much-rumored successor to the OnePlus Nord will be called the OnePlus Nord 2. Shocker, huh?
The moniker was listed in the terms and conditions for the offer, noting that customers need to purchase a brand new OnePlus 8T, OnePlus 8 Pro, OnePlus Nord, OnePlus Nord 2, OnePlus 9 or OnePlus 9 Pro to receive a free Stadia Premiere Edition console.
As you’d expect, the model has since been removed, but not before the good folks over at Android Police snapped a screenshot of it — so if you’re reading this with your aluminium hat on, screaming it’ll be called something different, the proof is in the pudding.
Even though we’ve heard a lot of chatter about the OnePlus Nord 2, we still don’t know an awful lot about it. The most credible rumors point towards it being the first OnePlus handset to stray away from a Qualcomm CPU in favor of a MediaTek Dimensity 1200.
Considering the handset is rumored to be announced in Q2 and was recently certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) — codenamed EBBA with model number EB2101 — it’s unlikely we’ll have to wait much longer to see what OnePlus has up its sleeve.
